Important information about Hilo smart home products

Availability of Hilo smart thermostats for electric baseboards and convectors, as well as Hilo smart water heater controllers, is currently limited. If we run out of stock before your scheduled installation, we’ll offer you an alternative smart thermostat or water heater controller model at no extra cost. You’ll be notified by email and asked for your consent to the replacement devices before we move forward with the installation.

Sinopé thermostat

Below are the Sinopé replacement thermostats that may be installed instead of the Hilo models, depending on your setup.

If you have electric baseboards and/or convectors, we’ll install one of the following models, depending on availability: Smart Thermostat for Electric Baseboard Heaters with Color Display or Smart Thermostat for Electric Baseboard Heaters.

If you have a fan convector (or “fan-forced heater”), we’ll install one of the following models, depending on availability: Smart Thermostat for Electric Baseboard Heaters or Smart Thermostat Lite for Fan-Forced Heaters.

Sinopé water heater controller

The smart water heater controller below could be installed in place of the Hilo model.

FAQ

Sinopé Lite thermostats, due to their smaller screen, do not display the outdoor temperature. They also offer an accuracy of 1 degree, compared to 0.5 degrees for Hilo thermostats and Sinopé’s standard and next-generation models.

All Sinopé thermostats are more compact than Hilo thermostats, so they may not fully cover the wall surface currently hidden by your existing thermostat. It’s also important to make sure that the Wi-Fi signal is strong enough in every room where a Sinopé thermostat will be installed.

Once the thermostats are installed, the experience in the Hilo app will be similar across Sinopé and Hilo models for the following features:

  • Viewing thermostats in the device list
  • Displaying the setpoint temperature, room temperature, and energy use
  • Adjusting the setpoint temperature

However, it’s not possible to create scenes in the Hilo app (custom temperature settings for one or more thermostats in specific rooms) with Sinopé thermostats. If you want to set up a scene with a Sinopé baseboard thermostat, you can do so in the manufacturer’s Neviweb app.

Your experience will be almost identical. Sinopé water heater controllers are smaller, but they offer the same features as Hilo controllers. The only exception is scene programming that involves turning your water heater on or off — that has to be done in the manufacturer’s Neviweb app instead of the Hilo app.
