What is preheating and how can I manage it?

Preheating is a feature designed to help you stay comfortable during a peak demand event — without affecting your results. When preheating is enabled, the temperature settings on your connected thermostats are gradually increased in the hours leading up to a peak event, allowing your home to store more heat. This is why your heating system may turn on before a peak demand event begins.

Preheating is turned on for each connected thermostat by default.

How to turn preheating on or off

  1. Open the Hilo app
  2. Tap Events in the bottom navigation bar to open the My events page
  3. Select Manage my event settings
  4. Adjust your preheating settings for each thermostat
