Having problems pairing or controlling a device far from the hub? Adding a smart plug could help. Here’s how.

A device located far from the hub or separated from it by obstacles, such as several walls or large metal objects, may interfere with the Zigbee signal and cause intermittent or poor connections, preventing you from pairing the device.

Adding a smart plug between the problem device and a device that is already paired with the hub could improve the Zigbee mesh and allow pairing or better control of the device. In this case, the smart plug acts as a signal repeater.
