If you already have the Hilo hub, you can now add your compatible home charger to the Hilo app and take advantage of the free Smart-Home programming update.

Once your hub is installed and connected, add your charging station to the app to automate its energy reduction and start saving.

It’s a solution that allows owners of compatible charging stations to automatically participate in peak events.
With Hilo’s EV charging solution, you won’t have to worry about remembering the start and end times of each peak event, or risk forgetting to unplug or replug your vehicle. Your charging time will be optimized, along with your potential savings.
To participate in the smart charging service, you’ll need:
- A compatible charging station
- A Wi-Fi network covering the charging area (to connect your station to the Internet)
Also, as with all Hilo solutions, you’ll need:
- A Hilo hub (included with your first order)
- A smartphone
- A Hydro-Québec account enrolled in the Flex D rate, or agree to enroll when placing your order
Yes! Hilo will automatically reduce or cut the charging power at the start of the peak event and restore it to 100% at the end. No action is required on your part, other than plugging in your vehicle.

Smarter energy use pays off!
By combining Hilo with Rate Flex D, our customers save an average of $150* each winter.
Average savings are based on actual consumption by Hilo customers who chose a smart heating solution, across all participation modes, connected devices, and home types. The average is based on estimated savings from the 2025–2026 season (data to be validated in summer 2026) for customers enrolled in Rate Flex D who participated throughout the entire season under a scenario of 84 hours or 21 peak demand events. The calculation is based on Rate Flex D prices in effect during that season. Potential savings represent the difference between Rate Flex D and Rate D (the base rate), before taxes.
