My Hilo smart thermostat for electric floor heating is displaying an error code

Except in a few cases, error codes are displayed in the space where the ambient temperature is normally displayed.

You can always reset the circuit breaker to attempt to get rid of an error code; in your electrical panel, simply turn the breaker off, wait 30 seconds, then turn it on again.

Code displayed Meaning Solution
E1F The thermostat is in Floor mode but no sensor is connected.
  • Ensure the thermostat’s front plate is properly connected to the base and that the locking screw under the thermostat has been tightened
  • If the above does not resolve the issue, put the thermostat in Ambient mode and/or have an electrician check the wiring
E2F The thermostat is in Floor mode but the sensor has short-circuited.

Put the thermostat in Ambient mode and/or have an electrician check the wiring

E5 The devices detects more than one hub in pairing mode
  • Check if more than one hub is in pairing mode.
  • If not, perform a hard reset of the hub and try pairing again*.

* After the hard reset, all other devices already paired to the hub must be paired again.

E17 The automatic test to verify circuit protection has failed.

Reset the circuit breaker

  1. Turn off the breaker in the electrical panel
  2. Wait 30 seconds, then turn the breaker back on
  3. Press the thermostat’s Reset button

GFCI

This code is displayed where the time usually appears.

A short circuit has been detected in the relay connection.

Reset the circuit breaker

  1. Turn off the breaker in the electrical panel
  2. Wait 30 seconds, then turn the breaker back on
  3. Press the Reset button on the right side of the thermostat
