My Hilo smart thermostat for electric baseboards and convectors is warm to the touch

Under normal usage, the thermostat’s surface becomes warm when it turns on the heating appliance. The more powerful the heating appliance is, the warmer the thermostat’s surface will become. This is normal and won’t affect the thermostat’s efficiency. 

Note: It is important to ensure the thermostat’s ventilation slots remain clear.
