Yes, you can manually turn off your water heater if you’re going to be away for an extended period of time, like during a vacation.

However, we don’t recommend turning it off for short absenses.

To ensure you have hot water when you return — and to reduce any potential safety risks — we recommend turning the water heater back on via the Hilo app the day before you get home.
