The average potential savings amount is based on the actual consumption of Hilo customers using a smart heating solution, across all device and housing types, calculated according to the Rate Flex D pricing in effect at the time. This average is derived from data spanning the last three winter seasons (2022–2025) and is calculated on the basis of 100 hours of participation or 25 peak demand events. Potential savings represent the difference between Rate Flex D and the base rate (Rate D), including applicable taxes. Savings with the smart heating solution may vary depending on factors such as the exact number of thermostats associated with the solution, home characteristics, energy-use habits, the rate of participation in peak demand events, and weather conditions.
Hilo works with Hydro-Québec’s Rate Flex D, which helps you save all winter long—except during peak demand events, when you need to reduce your electricity use to maintain your savings. To help you lower your consumption during these times, Hilo automatically manages your connected devices.
During peak demand events, Hilo manages your connected thermostats according to your preferences. Outside of these times, you can control them remotely via either the Hilo app or the Honeywell Home app, depending on the thermostat model you own.

Once you’ve signed up for Hilo, installed the Hilo app and hub, and set up your Honeywell Home thermostats, simply add them to the Hilo app.
