How do I participate in peak events? 

Participation is automatic.

You’ll receive a notification in the Hilo mobile app the day before a peak event. (You can also opt to receive notifications by email — click here to learn how to enable this feature.) You’ll have until midnight to adjust your settings. Any changes made after that will only apply to future events. 

The first time you participate, you’ll be asked to choose a participation mode: Moderate, Intrepid, or Extreme. Your settings will be saved and applied automatically to future peak events, but you can update them at any time. 

For your water heater controller and EV charging station, simply choose whether to include them. If selected, Hilo will automate them during peak events.
