Can I turn off my water heater when I’m away for an extended period of time?

Yes, you can manually switch off your water heater if you plan on being gone for an extended period of time, like if you’re going away on vacation.

However, we do not recommend switching off your water heater for just a short period.

We also recommend that you switch your water heater back on via the Hilo app the day before you get home; this ensures that your water is hot when you get there, and also minimizes the risk to your safety.
