Will Hilo’s smart water heater solution leave me without hot water during peak demand events ?

No. Even though your water heater’s power is turned off during Hilo peak demand events, you’ll still have access to hot water.

For example, a 60-gallon (imperial) tank set to 60°C can provide around 438 litres of mixed water at 40°C — enough for several reasonably timed showers.

That said, the actual amount of hot water available during a peak demand period depends on your household’s usage habits and the size of your water heater.
