Can I save more by turning my water heater off at night?

We do not recommend turning off an electric water heater for short periods of time.

However, if you’re leaving home for an extended period — such as a trip lasting a week or more — you may consider turning it off. When you return, be sure to turn the water heater back on for at least 24 hours before using any hot water.
