What are the eligibility requirements for Hilo’s smart water heater solution?

Hilo’s smart water heater solution can be installed on any electric water heater that meets the following criteria:

• It is easily accessible (please make sure the area around the water heater is cleared before installation)
• It was installed in compliance with electrical standards
• Ideally, it’s located on the same floor as the Hilo hub, or within one floor above or below, to ensure proper communication with the load controller

Please note that water heaters located in crawl spaces with less than six feet of clearance or that are otherwise not accessible at standing height may not be eligible. In such cases, the smart solution would not be installed during the master electrician’s visit.
