The load indicator light is flashing red. What should I do?

A flashing red load indicator light could indicate a power surge or a temperature sensor error. Perform the following to correct the situation:

1. Disconnect the sensor wire (similar to a phone wire), wait about 10 seconds, then reconnect it to the load controller. The load indicator light should stop flashing after a few seconds. If it doesn’t, proceed to step 2.
2. Switch the water heater circuit breaker on your electrical panel to the OFF position, wait about 30 seconds, then switch it back to the ON position. Wait a few seconds, then check the status of the load indicator light. If it’s still flashing, contact Hilo Technical Support.
